The First House in Calabasas, an 1844 Ranch House - The original builder/owner was Miguel Leonis, an early robber baron, who used a small army of thugs on horseback to get control what is now Calabasas and much of the west San Fernando Valley. In other words, the standard approach in the early west… Humble beginnings for a now upscale town visited by President Obama and (I’m not into celebrity chatter, just stating facts) with residents like The Rock, Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez.
